1Flaws and Failures....  Jul 22, 2010
Being an owner of three 60g Ps3's I have to say this is by far the most unreliable system I have ever owned. All three have died, one of them twice (after being serviced by Sony). They are cheaply made, which anyone can see by taking a peak inside of the system.

5Worth Every Penny  Jun 24, 2010
So I picked this bad boy up about 1 month after it came out. That means I have had my 60GB PS3 for about 3 and 1/2 years now. I have seen all of the firmware updates, game releases, and general functionality improvements in that time and I have certainly gotten my money's worth. After all of that time I have not once had a single problem with my system and that's something neither my PS1 or my 2 PS2's could boast. The game library has become incredible with PS3-only titles like Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3, InFamous, and numerous others. I have convinced several people to pick up PS3's in that time and I always tell them to get the original 60GB models if they can find them. The ability to play all the new games as well as all of my old games is awesome and the upscaling ability this adds to my DVD collection is unparalleled. So after all this time upgrading the software and the hard drive (which is awesome) I have to say that I am even more satisfied with my purchase than I was the day I bought it. If you're on the fence about buying a PS3 and you have the money.... get it, you'll be glad you did.

4Great System, But...  Jun 12, 2010
The PlayStation 3 is a great system, especially the 60 GB version. Full backwards compatability with the PS2, which the newer versions (specifically the slim lines) don't. There are a ton of great games for this system (MGS4, Uncharted 1 and 2, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, Heavenly Sword, Infamous just to name a few) that are exclusive to the PS3. Not to mention the BluRay drive which allows you to watch BluRay movies on the system.

However, I have suffered from the infamous "Yellow Light of Death" on my PS3. I bought my 60 GB system in May of 07, and it lasted until June of 10. So, yeah, 600 bucks for a system that only lasted three years, disappointed to say the least. I did used the system a lot, but there were certainly down times when I wouldn't touch it for days at a time, so it's not like I did not take care of it. It is something to be aware of.

Also, do NOT buy the PS3 60 GB system used! I cannot stress this enough. There is a temporary fix for the YLOD involving taking the system apart, using a heat gun, and putting the system back together. This is a temporary fix that will only last around a month, a few days if unlucky. Bascially, if I wanted to, I could use this temporary fix and it will work fine and sell it to some you. It will work fine, for about a month, then you have nothing but a paper weight. Just wanted to throw that out there.

I am going to buy a new slim line PS3, because I loved the system so much and had such a great time with it. It's worth another $300 to me. It just sucks that I have to buy a new PS2 now so I can play my old PS2 games, but hey, what are you going to do?

Price was right and fair for what the product was (a backwards compatibility ps3). Shipping was fast and convenient, I would definitely buy from this seller again.

5Better get one if you can, they're only gonna be more expensive  May 22, 2010
So if you don't know the back story about ps3s, Sony basically realized they could make more money by make different versions. When they made the 60GB, they built in a ps2 which made it backwards compatible (plays ps1&2 games). The 80GB also does this but it's an emulator instead which may not play all games. Sony soon discovered that its customers could play SCEA's ENTIRE library on one system. It's not very cost effective! So they discontinued the 60GB's production claiming some sort of factory defect! Sure you can buy a new slim ps3 with 250GB of processing power, but what about all you old ps1&2 games? YOU CAN'T PLAY THEM ON A 120GB or HIGHIER! Sony is still releasing new titles for ps2 to compete with the market share of Wii, but you can't play these games on new ps3s. Bottom line: GET A 60GB PS3! SOON THEY WILL BE $500 OR MORE. SOME ARE LISTED ON THIS VERY WEBSITE FOR $2000! Don't forget it's a blu-ray playing, DVD/CD using, high definition awesome machine!
