4Cool... :)  Sep 03, 2010
I like this game only cause I'm a Sonic The Hedgehog fan. This 1's much different from past Sonic games. Has lots of great sound & 3D gfx. Storyline's interesting too. Not sure if I'm used 2 Dr. Robotnik being called Eggman yet or the other notable changes but I'm sure I'll adapt pretty quick 2 all that. Game's still fun but I'm sure there's better Sonic games available, like Sonic Unleashed 4 starters... Still gets 4.5 stars & a positive review. :)

1Save yourselves from this one  Aug 10, 2010
This game was worth $15 when I bought it. Maybe $5.00 would be a fair price.

Honestly, I was not able to pass beyond the first beach stage. Why? It all seemed too monotonous. I almost doze off at the beggining while trying to talk to people performing the "tutorials". I thought it all would get better when the blue hedgehog started running and doing cool stuff. It seems that the makers of the game consider "dying as many times as it takes for you to become extremely angry and throw the controller at the TV" as cool stuff. Sure, you can move around, kill monsters, destroy boxes and grab coins. Everything seems good right until you're required to execute actions similar to those of previous Sonic games. They become, ironically, the bane of the game. Once Sonic starts "doing his stuff", you'll have to try and keep his direction and push buttons at precise times. If you're not able to do that, you'll have to start everything from square one. After doing that for the first time, you get to explore a bit more and then repeat the process again. And again. And again. So you will probably die a lot while learning from trial and error, DURING THE FIRST STAGE. More than anyone would like.

There's also the issue with loading times. Dying a lot and waiting more than you expect after dying is not a good combination.

I read in other reviews that the game is bugged. I only suffered from one that made the hedgehog drown on its way to the beach stage. I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong. I don't know exactly what I did, but I was able to overcome it just to die some more afterwards.

Graphically, the game is not bad. That doesn't mean it's awesome though. To me, it looks like a PS2 game.

Controls seem somewhat "loose" for me, which doesn't help the jumping and running at "high speed".

2A huge disapointment  Jul 07, 2010
When I played the demo level for this game, I thought that it would be a really fun game; however, the demo level is no doubt the funnest level on the game. The loading time is horrendously long (you'll have a 3 minute cutscene, a 2 minute loading screen, a 2 second cutscene, and another 2 minute loading screen, play for about 2-3 minutes, then have another loading screen, another two second cutscene, and another loading screen, and that's for every person you help in the town). There are many glitches that haven't been fixed (especially when fighting against Silver and in the Crisis Core level), and if you didn't like Sonic Adventure 1 or 2, then you probably wouldn't like this game either because it has the same basic set-up; you pick a main character, and you hang around in Soleanna until you figure out where you're supposed to go, and then you go and do the level, and head back to soleanna(however, if you did like it, you probably still wouldn't like this game). It also isn't very long, I finished in a little over a week at about an hour a day, and I'm usually pretty slow when it comes to games in general.

3The fun depends  Jul 06, 2010
Like the title says, it just depends on how much of a sonic fan you are. If you can handle the glitches then you might find this very enjoyable. If you can't (like me), you'll find it a waste of time and probably return it. Another problem is the stages where you automatically run. It's so much easier to run into stuff and you can get hurt from things that you shouldn't be hurt by, like pillars, cars, etc.

Now, on to the pros and cons:

Pros

Good voice acting
Storyline was okay
Realistic graphics
Silver (need I say more?)

Cons

Glitches
Load times
Very hard level design
Unexpected deaths
Control

4THE MOST UNDERRATED GAME EVER!!!  May 29, 2010
Why are so many people complaining about minor issues like the camera and loading times? LOADING TIMES AND CAMERAS AREN'T THE ENTIRE GAME, PEOPLE!!! I picked this up at Gamestop yesterday used, so I could return it if I hated it like most of the rest of the world. Did I hate it? NO, OF COURSE NOT!!! This game is AWESOME! It finally goes back to some of its older roots. Multiple playable characters, extras... It's totally sweet.

Graphics: Probably the best we've ever seen for Sonic. Everything is so vivid and realistic. Really, from this point on, they should start making all of their Sonic games for the PS3.

Music:
Mehhh. Most of it sounds like original gameplay music we've all heard before in earlier Sonic games. The title music is freakin awesome though:p

Story:
Okay, I probably can't comment on this much since I've only played through 80% of Sonic's story, and haven't started Silver's or Shadow's. For Sonic's, it's same old same old, just with an annoying princess. Ugh!

Characters:
Again, I've only played through 80% of Sonic, so I don't have much to say here (yet). I'll probably do an update once I've finished the entire thing. So far, Sonic is the same old Sonic, Tails still sounds like an 8 year old girl, and I SO WANT TO PUNCH ELISE IN THE FACE!!! And if you thought Amy's helplesness was bad... Sheesh...

Gameplay:
Okay, I've heard WAY, WAY WAAAY too many people complaining about bad the loading times are. LOADING TIMES ARE NOT THE ENTIRE GAME PEOPLE!!! IT'S TEN SECONDS OF YOUR LIFE!!! MOVE ON!!! Honestly, all it requires is half an ounce of patience to live through the loading times. You don't even need a book. As far as other things go, there's a few teeny tiny flaws. All in all though it's still standard Sonic fare, with a few new moves thrown in, like Sonic and Elise's shield thingy. Sometimes I don't use it... Because I want Elise to drown...

Complaints:
- The sound of Tails' tails DRIVES ME INSANE!!! It sounds like evil chipmunks. EVIL CHIPMUNKS! Creepy much.
- Elise is so darn annoying! I mean come on: a romance between a HEDGEHOG and a HUMAN GIRL. Eeeewwwwww!!! It would've been SO, SO, SO much better if they had made her an animal like the others! Hmmm... I think she kinda would've looked like Tikal... Cool:p
- Everyone moves so frikkin slow! It just feels awkward for a Sonic game. I blame the slowness on EliseX(
- Alright, I'll admit it: the loading times CAN be annoying sometimes. Heck, that's the only reason I bumped off a star. But it's ten seconds of your life!!! There's not a lot you can do in ten seconds, ya know?

Overall, I really reccomend this game to Sonic fans everywhere. You might want to get it used though, just in case. Happy gaming!
